Federal Extension of Time to File – July 15
Individual taxpayers filing deadline was moved from April 15 to July 15, 2020. You do not have to file extensions or send documents to the IRS to obtain relief.
2019 IRS Income Tax Due and 2020 IRS Estimated Tax Payments
2019 Federal income tax is due July 15, 2020. April 15 and June 15 estimated tax payments are extended to July 15, 2020. Interest and penalties between April 15 to July 15 will be not be calculated and assessed.
Mississippi Filing Deadline and Estimated Tax Payments
MS moved the 2019 tax filing and payment deadline from April 15 to May 15, 2020. (We will file an extension for all Byrne Zizzi Mississippi clients prior to the May 15 filing deadline. The 2019 MS income tax is still due on May 15, 2020 even if the tax filing is extended.)
MS moved the April 15 estimated tax payment due April 15 to May 15, 2020.
MS tax payments due June 15, 2020 have not been moved.
Additional State Filing Information
Almost all other states moved the filing and payment deadline to July 15, 2020. Our neighboring states, AL, LA, and TN moved the filing and payment dates to July 15, 2020.

Additional Federal Extensions of Time to File and Pay
The new relief applies to all taxpayers that have a filing or payment deadline falling on or after April 1, 2020, and before July 15, 2020, including individuals, trusts, estates, corporations, and other noncorporate tax filers, and that period will be disregarded by the IRS in calculating any interest, penalty, or addition to tax for failure to file the forms specified in the notice.
